Licensed Customs Brokers/Account Managers (Buffalo, NY)

Will manage the customs and logistics business of assigned clients. Requires a Bachelor's degree, U.S. Customs broker's license, and 1-5 years related experience. Must have a working knowledge of U.S. Customs and O.G.A. and be able to manage these services at the ocean and airports. Must also be able to manage related transportation and distribution services. Requires computer skills in IBM AS/400, MS Word and Excel and be able to use email and the Internet.

Director of Freight Brokerage (Buffalo, NY)

Job Objective: Manage a Property Brokerage (truck and intermodal freight brokerage) providing LTL and TL transportation within and between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This is a support operation for a related company with large client base and infrastructure resources. New business development is not a primary duty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary: Conduct profitable freight brokerage service business in compliance with U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (Property Broker & Motor Carrier) and other applicable government agencies.

  • Supervise customer service support staff, with authority to hire and fire.
  • Source reliable carriers and agents to deliver sustainable services to our clients.
  • Negotiate industry competitive agreements and contracts with carriers.
  • Build a loyal carrier base.
  • Provide the best value to our clients.
  • Identify opportunities for rate reduction/client savings.
  • Fast response to RFQs (Requests for Quotations) from related company.
  • Prepare SPs (Service Proposals) accurately, professionally and promptly.
  • Establish and enforce Business Rules for all carriers and business partners.
  • Implement K.P.I.s to measure performance and behavior against our Business Rules.
  • Establish and monitor matrixes to measure performance.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years experience in the freight brokerage business.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics or Logistics with strong management experience.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Purchasing experience in logistics industry.
  • Able to analyze and interpret government, regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English.
  • Proficient analytical, communication, presentation and business writing skills
  • Understanding of business finance and accounting
  • Ability to analyze profitability on accounts to ensure optimum profitability
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficient in MS Word®, Excel®, Power Point®, Email, and Internet meetings (for prospective client presentations).
  • Visit clients and expand business relationships

Freight Broker (Buffalo, NY)
